Company News About Launch of Two New BeiDou AIS Shore-Based Stations in the Xisha Islands Enhances Maritime Safety
Recently, the Sansha Navigation Marks Office, part of the South China Sea Navigation Support Center of the Ministry of Transport, officially launched two new BeiDou and AIS (Automatic Identification System) shore-based stations at the Beijiao and Langhuajiao lighthouses in the Xisha Islands.
This marks the first time that China has established BeiDou AIS shore-based stations in this region, eliminating coverage blind spots for AIS systems in the Xisha Sea area. This development provides strong support for the monitoring of vessel navigation and the ecological protection of the islands and reefs, offering safer and more reliable navigational aids for ships.
The two AIS stations utilize China's independently developed BeiDou positioning system, significantly improving positioning reliability and safety. All AIS data from the stations are integrated into China's AIS shore-based system, with data transmission enabled through BeiDou satellite communication technology.
This initiative is a significant step towards advancing the construction of additional AIS shore-based stations in Sansha and enhancing the coverage of China's AIS system in the South China Sea. It plays a crucial role in upholding international conventions, ensuring navigation safety in the South China Sea region, and improving service efficiency.
